’n Aanset tot interpretasie van sekere Bybeltekste oor die mens se verhouding tot die natuurlike omgewing

Scholars in eco-theology have pointed to critical areas where so-called Christian piety can counteract the care for creation. In response, the aim of this book was to provide original exegesis of selected biblical texts across the whole canon on human relationships to the natural environment to support scholars in developing a biblical foundation for creation care. The book, as Volume 1 of a trilogy, provides an in-depth exegesis of 25 selected texts across nine main literary genres used in Scripture, namely historical narrative, law, prophecy, wisdom, psalms and poetry, gospels, acts, epistles, and the apocalypse. The book contributes to new knowledge in the theology of creation care through the exegesis of biblical texts spanning these main literary genres across the entire canon. A significant contribution is that the book is a first in vernacular Afrikaans, which assists scholarship and may facilitate positive change in attitudes towards the natural environment among that language group. The target audience market includes biblical scholars in the exegesis, theology, and ethics of creation care. The book also serves as a reference text for pastors, lecturers, and students in Bible schools and theological faculties, as well as for everyday Christians, to enhance their understanding of the biblical foundations of creation care and support them in its practical application.
