The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ
- First published:
- 20th century
- Language: English
The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ is a book by American preacher Levi H. Dowling, first published in 1908. The book purports to be a historical record of the life of Jesus Christ, but it is not considered to be a reliable historical source by scholars. Instead, it is considered to be a work of spiritual fiction, drawing on a variety of religious and spiritual traditions. The book includes teachings and stories that are not found in the Bible, and it presents a spiritualized version of the life of Jesus that is not supported by historical evidence. It claims to be transcribed from the akashic records; a compendium of mystical knowledge supposedly encoded in a non-physical plane of existence. The book has strong Theosophical and Spiritualist influences, and interestingly attempts to fill in the two decade gap in Jesus's traditional biography. According to Dowling, Jesus spent a lot of time in the East where he learned esoteric methods from the masters.
